Japan Society of Sexual Science

Who we are

Sexuality is a concept that encompasses all aspects of human sexuality, and sexual health refers to a state of physical, psychological, and social well-being. We, JSSS (Japanese Society of Sexual Science) are an organization of professionals who promote sexual health through clinical research and treatment.

Objectives

The purpose of the Society shall be to promote the theoretical establishment of sexology and
the research and development of sex therapy techniques in Japan, and to contribute to the
development of academic culture by promoting communication and cooperation among the
members.

Activities

  1. Holding of academic meetings (conferences)
  2. Publication of journals and academic books
  3. Holding of workshops, study groups, seminars, etc.
  4. Implementation of joint research
  5. Research and development of materials, equipment which are necessary for sex therapy
  6. Exchange of information with various organizations
  7. Implementation of qualification certification system
  8. Other activities necessary to achieve the objectives of the Society

History

1979
Established as the name of Japan Association of Sex Counselors &Therapists (JASCT).
Became organizational member of WAS (World Association for Sexual Health).

1995
Changed its name to JSSS (Japan Society of Sexual Science).
